Madeline Belen Logan is a Northern Arapaho artist born and raised in Lander, Wyoming, and is attending the Institute of American Indian Arts in pursuit of a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Madeline was raised by many inspiring relatives, living both on and off the reservation. From a young age, her Neiwoo (grandmother) taught her to appreciate the arts, primarily through the intricacies of beadwork. She was also taught the symbolism of Arapaho beaders, knowledge that pops up in many of her pieces. Growing up in several different environments has also influenced her work in a way that combines traditional knowledge with contemporary practices. Her primary mediums include ink drawings and oil painting. Logan’s work often depicts her world perspective using unsettling, fantastical, and surreal imagery. In 2020, she won the Wyoming State Art Symposium scholarship, which launched her pursuit of fine arts. Since then, Madeline has been studying new techniques and pushing her processes to create the specific atmosphere desired for each piece.
